My name is Laura Baumgartner and I have always loved children, especially children who have never known love. I hope to work in an orphanage or group home setting someday. Here is a paper that I wrote for one of my leadership classes that goes deeper into who I am and what I want to do. Personal Essay. Through my Family Studies Classes I have been able to go deep into who I am and where I came from Autobiography paper.
Who am I?
I love people. I am the oldest of four children and my mom is my hero, mentor, and best friend. I love my family and want them to know that they are loved by me. Most importantly, though, I love Jesus and know that He loves me. His love is the reason I am the caring, empathetic, relational person I am today. Sports and childcare have also taught me discipline, responsibility, how to care for others, how to respect authority, and how to lead without a title.
Who do I want to be?
I want to be a follower of Christ, to live on this earth like he did and more importantly love like he does. I want to grow in my relationship with Christ and do the things that scare me the most. I do not want to live a comfortable life, but want to always be reaching out to the people that surround me. Simply, I want to be a servant hearted leader who puts other people first.
What kind of contribution do I want to make, and how?
I want to care about, and for, people that are hurting and forgotten. I want to be a builder up of people, a disciple maker. I want to get to know people, love on them, and speak truth into their lives. I want to be a person that is welcoming and open to go to and share life with.
Why am I ready to lead?
I have learned a tremendous amount from different people, my coaches, my mother, life group leaders, and experiences such as sports teams and summer camps. I have learned that leadership does not require a title and so in every situation that I am placed, I want to be a leader through encouragement.
Leadership for what?
Life is short, and while I am on this earth I want to be bold. As a leader I have the opportunity to be bold in sharing my life, my love, and my faith. No matter the setting, I am called to be a leader for God’s glory which to me is the greatest purpose for ever leading.
Above all else I want to worship God with my life.
